Journey Church

Happy family of five posing outdoors with smiles and warm clothing.

Brandon and Whitney Tanksley are the founders of The Journey Church in Jackson, Missouri, a church built on the belief that life with God is a journey meant to be lived adventurously expectant.

Brandon currently serves as a chaplain with Crown Hospice, walking closely with individuals and families through some of life’s most meaningful and difficult moments. Whitney is a 4th-grade teacher at South Elementary in Jackson, where she pours into the next generation on a daily basis. Together, they are raising three kids—Camdon, Tucker, and Aubrey—who keep them busy and deeply connected to the Jackson community. Their boys are actively involved in sports throughout the area, and as a family, they love spending time outdoors and embracing every adventure they can find.

Over the past decade, Brandon and Whitney have served in nearly every area of ministry—kids, youth, young adults, and even helping plant and lead a church campus. Ministry has taken them many places, but nothing compares to being back home, serving and building something meaningful in the community they grew up around. Though they are proud Cape Central graduates, don’t hold that against them. God has clearly planted and grown their heart for Jackson.

Their passion for this community is unmatched. The vision of The Journey Church is to see people live adventurously expectant as they take their next step in their journey with God. They believe the church should meet people where they are, walk with them authentically, and help them move forward in their faith journey.

At the core of it all is a deep conviction: following Jesus isn’t meant to be stagnant—it’s meant to be lived boldly, faithfully, and adventurously expectant.
